MONACO SNARES THREE CLUBMAN WINS AT NSW CHAMPIONSHIPS
3-October-2006

Monaco GP drivers have taken out the prestigious and highly competitive Clubman Light, Clubman Heavy and Junior Clubman classes at the 2006 NSW State Open Championships.

It was a difficult weekend for all concerned after the tragic death of Kevin Millard's parents, Graham and Kath, in an accident while travelling to the event. Due tot this sad situation, Remo chose not to compete. Tributes were paid to the Millards by many competitors throughout the weekend, including Monaco GP Rookies competitor Cameron Waters, who raced with Kevin Millard's usual race number - 24 - as a mark of respect for the Millard family. Remo will compete with Kevin's number 24 at the WA State Championships this coming weekend as a mark of respect.

CLUBMAN LIGHT
James Sera was dominant all weekend, setting the fastest qualifying time and winning every race he contested. Sera made the most of a first corner incident between several front-runners to open a comfortable lead, which he was able to maintain throughout the final. His victory was all the more impressive given that the Clubman Light field contained no less than 10 Australian champions.

CLUBMAN HEAVY
Brad Belcher travelled all the way from Tonsville to compete at the NSW Championships, and went home with a well-earned victory. The final was eventful, with Brad fighting for the lead with Jason Varley, Simon Roberts and current National Champion Jason Hryniuk. With five laps remaining the 'two Jasons' touched, resulting in both spearing off the track. Brad was left to fend off Simon Roberts to claim a well-earned victory.

JUNIOR CLUBMAN
James Kovacic dominated the premier junior class - Junior Clubman - all weekend. His job wasn't an easy one, though, after being knocked off track and shuffled back at the start of the final. His dominance was clear as he cut his way back through the strong field to take another dominant victory.
