TOYOTA JOINS AUSTRALIAN LEOPARD SERIES
24-Apr-2006
Remo Racing is extremely proud this month to announce this month that TOYOTA have come onboard to sponsor the 2006 Leopard Series. As a result of this much needed boost for the sport in Australia, the series Australia-wide will now be called the 2006 TOYOTA LEOPARD SERIES.
TOYOTA were very keen to get involved, and were particularly interested in something which could involve racing safety as well as the nurturing of young talent. Thus, in this deal they were able to kill many birds with one stone. As a result of their two Formula One drivers, Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher, being graduates of the karting scene Toyota were doubly proud to get involved with the Leopard Series, especially as they were dealing with someone who had as much experience and respect as Remo Racing...
Remo Luciani explains Toyota's involvement in the deal, "Toyota endorses and encourages young drivers to be part of the sport of karting which is in a safe and controlled environment. (In this way they can) learn their driving skills and to obey and follow rules, which will prepare these younger drivers for when they hit the road with a motor vehicle."
Remo Luciani is the innovator and promotor of the 2006 Leopard Series Challenge - Australia's premier Go Kart series. Up until this announcement of the Toyota sponsorship deal, Remo has been the main driving force behind the series, in his own words...
"I have not received 'any' sponsorship at all since its inception. The Leopard Series has been 'totally' funded by myself personally for the benefit of the sport of Kart Racing. All profits from the series around Australia go directly to the 'Kart Clubs themselves' that hold the events. Not one single cent goes to me"
"Being in a controlled environment at a young age also involves parents and a family atmosphere as parents need to get their children to the race circuit and be with them during the day and weekends away racing. And knowing where your children are is very important these days."
"Younger drivers need to look up to senior drivers to have a dream to be up there one day themselves, and so it goes on for the younger senior drivers to have Formula One drivers to look up to for them to fulfil their dream possibly on day as did Jarno Trulli Toyota's F1 driver." |
