Fortunately, the IAME Leopard is bucking the trend - with a long and bright future ahead made possible by the engineering skills of 42 time world karting champions IAME Spa, and the co-operation between local IAME importer Remo Racing and the AKA.

All three organisations have worked together to provide the best playing field for Australian karters.

What's different?
The primary change is the introduction of a counter-balance shaft. This greatly reduces vibration and destructive harmonics.

The result is increased service life on everything within and attached to the engine - starter motor, clutches, piston pins, even the chassis the engine is bolted to is much less likely to crack with the Leopard X30.

New Digital CDI unit restricts the engine to a maximum of 15,800rpm. This function single-handedly removes most of the reliability issues currently experienced with the Leopard RL, and has therefore been introduced as a mandatory item on this engine also. Not only that, but the technical inspectors at the track can plug into any competitors CDI and confirm that no illegal tampering has taken place!

New Tryton 2 Jet Carburettor - featuring a fully machined throat and laser marked to prevent illegal machining, this carburettor offers much tighter tolerances than the previous Tillotson model.

Cylinder head profile is fully machined, and technical inspectors have access to a profile guage that ensure there is NO further machining of the head, including the squish angel.

Many other developments to restrict further "blueprinting" of the engine, such as restricted base gasket range (0.3-0.45mm), restricted reed petals, etc.
