IT HASN'T been the best season of racing for top local karter Elle Brydon but she hopes to end it on a high note as she travels to South Australia to race this weekend. Brydon races in the Leopard Heavy division and is keen to perform at her best as the prize for winning the event is a trip to France to race in the X30 Bruno Grana World championship. There is little doubt in Brydon's mind, if successful, it would be the trip of a lifetime. "It would be amazing," she said To qualify for the Leopard Shoot-Out Brydon needed to compete in a certain number of races in the series and that has meant she has spent a lot of the year on the road and consequently did not race at too many meetings at Fitzroy Park Raceway. Such is Brydon's schedule for the CIK series she races at venues such as Melbourne, Ipswich, Sydney and South Australia. It is a long way to travel to race especially when the result is a DNF (did not finish). "I had a pretty unlucky year," she said. "But I learned a lot." Brydon said the more travelling she does the more experience she gains of the different types of circuit while also racing against the best karters from around Australia Her one major success for 2011 was taking out the All Girls Race but for the ambitious racer that win was not enough.
