The Dubbo Club made us feel most welcome as they always do. The weather was fine all weekend which allowed for some great racing. Unfortunately the numbers were down for various reasons but the Leopard Light class was formed and the racing between the competitors was most exciting. The competitors enjoyed some exciting racing in the heats with a couple of newcomers to the class. John Refalo and young Garnet Patterson (just out of juniors) showed the way in the early heats with local gun Adam Sharam in amongst them. Just behind them were the two older fellows Max Thornhill and Craig Masters who were ready to pounce if the younger ones came unstuck. On the grid for the Final was John Refalo on pole, Adam Sharam on 2, young Garnet Patterson on 3, Max Thornhill on 4, and Craig Masters on 5. When the lights went green John got away with a great start with Adam right on his tail, then came the old fella (Max) who got the jump on young Garnet and Craig close behind him. The order stayed that way for a few laps until Max went a bit wide on the top corner and the young bloke got into 3rd. Unfortunately the two leaders got away and Garnet was unable to run them down. Up the front though John and Adam were having a great battle with Adam finally passing John and taking the win in the Final and for the meeting. 1st- Adam Sharam, 2nd- John Refalo, 3rd-Garnet Patterson, 4th-Max Thornhill, 5th-Craig Masters. The NEXT ROUND of the Southern Zone will be at The Yellow Tail in Griffith on the 1st and 2nd of May. The Griffith club have been very generous in allowing the Leopard class to run in the Yellow Tail meeting so I urge all you Leopard drivers to try and support this meeting, not only the NSW drivers but also you Victorian drivers.
